At the end of March we spent 3 days on a liveaboard dive boat on the outer reef in Cairns and it was SO MAGICAL. We stayed at Yorkeys Knob when we arrived with the most lovely lady through Air BnB, she went above and beyond and picked us up from the airport, cooked us dinner and dropped us back into Cairns the next morning too, THANKYOU! Her house was awesome and super close to the beach. We went down for an afternoon swim (in the designated stinger nets so we didn’t die of course) and then again for sunrise the next morning. Couldn’t believe the water temperature though- by far the warmest sea water we’ve ever swam in, must’ve been about 30 degrees. Continue Reading
We didn’t really have a great camera for the majority of our time in Perth but we did get to do a lot of exploring. We went up to Kalbarri and down to Albany and many places in between. But barely scratched the surface of this huge state!
A few snaps of surfing the Surfing Perth, the wild West Coast of Australia…It very rarely gets good and is always ridiculously crowded here. Generally you can find some surf most weekends. We had one weekend of incredible waves at Trigg Beach (A smidge north of Scarborough).
Stand up Paddle Boarding in Cottesloe with mi muchacha. We hired 2 boards from the North Fremantle Board Store- $35 each for 24hrs (By far the cheapest around!!) and headed to Cottesloe to give it a go… The wind picked up pretty early but we got a feel for it and caught a few tiny waves, yew! Rottnest Island is super easily accessible from Perth, the ferry runs daily and a return ticket is about $80ish. It’s a really great little getaway from Perth and only a short distance. The island is 19 km² and there are no cars on it so you hire bicycles (or bring your own) and cycle around! Continue Reading
About a 10min boat trip from Rockingham, Western Australia is Carnac Island. A nature reserve inhabited by A LOT of tiger snakes, sea lions and dolphins. We are lucky enough to have awesome friends with a boat who were keen for a day trip there (LOVE you Ness & Darchy).
If you find yourself in Perth heading to the beach for the beautiful sunsets is an absolute must. It’s almost guaranteed that nature will do it’s thang and rustle up some magical, awe inspiring colours that will fill your soul right up. We were lucky enough to witness the magic from the roof of our house and living only a short drive to the ocean we tried to make a daily effort of after work beach trips because hey who doesn’t enjoy the humbling effects of a beautiful sunset? Here are a few we captured… Continue Reading
